I'm Isha, and while my resume will tell you I've been a media professional for over half a decade, what it doesn't tell you is that I've loved stories ever since I was a child.
My family immigrated to the U.S. from India around the time I was born — my father coming first, alone, with just a suitcase, a few hundred dollars, and a dream. We spent my early childhood years in Queens, New York, where my mom would take me to Barnes & Noble or the local library every day, and I'd sit there devouring every book I could. I grew up on The Story of Babar, Geronimo Stilton, and then Harry Potter, The Hunger Games, and Divergent (could you guess that adult me is a huge ACOTAR fan?). I also spent my summers traveling to India, spending weeks with family abroad and immersing myself in a culture very different from the one I knew in the States.
I share these details because I think they're just as important to understanding who I am as a professional as the bullet points on my LinkedIn. I have so much love for life, people, culture, and this wonderful world we're so lucky to live in. I love stories — whether it's reading, hearing, watching, or telling them — and I'm so grateful every day that I get to tell them for a living.
I've been at Good Morning America for nearly six years, and my work has earned a Peabody Award, an Edward R. Murrow Award, and four Emmy nominations. I've produced pieces for some of the network's most recognizable talent, including Robin Roberts, Michael Strahan, George Stephanopoulos, David Muir, and Lara Spencer.
I've also spent days sailing on a U.S. Navy ship, hung out with Clydesdales in beautiful Montana, gone off-roading in the picturesque mountains of Tennessee, and worked with some of today's biggest cultural and political figures, from Oscar nominee Timothée Chalamet to NYC Mayor Zohran Mamdani.
While I take pride in all my pieces, coming from a family of Indian immigrants, I'm most proud of the stories I've pitched and produced about my own South Asian community, spearheading the kind of representation I wish I'd seen growing up.
